Why grassfed?

As consumers of meat become more knowledgeable, the reasoning behind choosing grassfed beef becomes much more apparent. Various sources clearly show you the science backing the health benefits of grassfed beef and other pasture-raised meats. The simple explanation is that grassfed beef contains more beta-carotene, vitamin E, vitamin B, calcium, magnesium, potassium, omega-3s, CLA's, and vaccenic acid. Here are studies backing up this information:

Why Bos Creek?

There are many grassfed products available on the market, but NOT ALL grassfed beef is created equal. That would be like saying all coffee is the same regardless of whether it's from 7-Eleven or Philz Coffee. With coffee, it depends on the climate that the beans are grown in, how they're roasted, and how the coffee is brewed. Just like coffee, there are many factors that affect the quality of grassfed beef, including climate, feed (types of grass), age of the animals, and how the animals are processed.

The first thing that our customers have found different with our grassfed beef is the Taste. Many farmers just release their cattle on open pastures and believe that they will have a healthy product that tastes good. Unfortunately, it's not that easy. When the cows are not eating high quality, lush grass, the quality of the beef suffers as well.  Our ranchers and farmers are experienced and have spent over a decade perfecting their craft.

The second important quality of our grassfed beef is the Tenderness. After the cattle is harvested, we carcass age for two weeks to reduce the moisture in the carcass before we flash freeze our products. Aging your beef in a well circulated room removes moisture, which leaves the beef with a stronger flavor. This ensures that the meat is ready to eat by the time it is delivered to you.

We have taken our service a step further by searching for and identifying high quality regional sources of the meats we offer here at Bos Creek. We're proud to say that Bos Creek is the only company to offer freshly harvested meat as custom and curated boxes that are sourced in your region of the U.S. We don't keep a freezer full of products and we don't simply purchase leftover meats at a discounted price from farmers.

Why Do We Offer Subscriptions?

We've chosen to use the subscription model because we want to be a consistent and convenient source for your proteins. We also want to harvest just enough meat to send our members each month to reduce waste and unnecessary slaughter. It may take some time to figure out the correct amount of meat to order every month, but ideally, you won't have to worry about what meat to buy at the market, and you'll have your monthly supply delivered straight to your door. All of our meat is vacuum packed and flash frozen in individual portions, so you can be flexible on how much meat to defrost every night depending on how many people you're cooking for. We also offer a one-time purchase for those that are uncomfortable subscribing.
